Specialization
The Department of Pedagogy (DoP) is an educational and scientific-research department. It was established in 1964 in order to prepare teachers of vocational subjects at secondary vocational schools and apprentice training schools for agriculture, forestry and other related fields. In the course of time the activities of the Department have extended, and currently is dedicated to preparing professionals within the study programme Specialization in Pedagogy, in accredited Bachelor Degree programmes in Guidance in vocational education, Pedagogy for teachers of vocational subjects and Pedagogy for teachers of practical training. Furthermore, DoP participates in courses in lifelong learning programmes, courses within the University of the Third Age, teaching didactic and presentation skills for CZU postgraduate students, and in the implementation of professional and pedagogical practical training for IEC students. The Department coordinates the activities of the CZU Consulting Centre for students with special needs, and guarantees University of the Third Age programmes. It is tasked with survey and maintaining the internal evaluation of the quality of CZU educational activities in Bachelor Degree programmes, in follow-up of Master Degree programmes and in programmes of lifelong learning.
Research
The Department of pedagogy is involved in a number of scientific and research activities, in projects of secondary and tertiary education at national and international level. Members of the Department are focused primarily on such fields as school management, the management of education, guidance in vocational education, special pedagogy and counselling for students with special educational needs, and the analysis of educational content, didactic and presentation skills. This concerns the didactics of vocational subjects, the management of education quality, and the evaluation of the educational process including pedagogic diagnostics and survey, and the effectiveness of didactic aids in teaching.
