Institute of Education and Communication (IEC) does not offer doctoral study programmes but provides support for doctoral study programmes for the faculties at CZU within the Didactic and Presentation Skills course. This support is organized through block seminars and self-study activities.
Information on the Didactic and Presentation Skills Course
Course Overview:
This course is designed as a multidisciplinary programme, encompassing the fundamentals of university pedagogy, educational psychology, and practical training in didactic and presentation skills.
Course Objectives:
The primary objectives of this course are as follows:
- To provide students with the fundamental skills required for presenting the results of their scientific research.
- To familiarize them with teaching and learning principles.
- To guide them in adopting essential procedures for university teaching and evaluation results.
Course Structure:
The course is structured as follows:
Block seminars are conducted twice, spanning two days each. These seminars consist of theoretical instruction and practical training.
Theoretical instruction takes place in the mornings of the first and second day.
After completing the theoretical instruction, practical training follows in the afternoons.
Students are divided into parallel groups to enhance their learning experience.
Successful completion of the practical training is a prerequisite for passing the examination.
It is highly recommended to attend the theoretical instruction sessions in their respective disciplines.
Examination Requirements:
During the practical training, students are required to deliver two presentations.
One presentation should focus on a research report, including the presentation of the thesis and its objectives.
The other presentation should relate to teaching, such as lectures or tutorials.
Both presentations must be prepared in advance and delivered to an audience during the practical session.
Each presentation should last around 10 minutes.
An insight into the teaching/presentation is sufficient to illustrate the PhD student's didactic and presentation skills.
